About

Hey!

My name is Tommy Bernaciak. I'm a software engineer based in Łódź, Poland, currently working as a Main Frontend Architect at BinarApps and a Senior Software Engineer at Onwelo.

I've been building software professionally for more than a decade. I started out as a Ruby on Rails developer, moved into AngularJS, spent a couple of years in London building full-stack products at Stratajet, and for the last several years I've focused on React and TypeScript. These days my toolbox also reaches into Next.js, Nest.js, Node.js.

I'm a highly motivated and curious person with a can-do attitude, always learning and hungry for new knowledge. I enjoy my work, I like to do a good job, write clean code, and build applications I can be proud of. I gravitate toward challenging, complicated projects that push me to gain new skills and broaden my horizons.

What I do now

At BinarApps I'm responsible for the architecture and development of React applications connected to our clients' APIs - planning and implementing new features that address real needs. Along the way I led one of our React teams as a JavaScript Team Leader, representing the group to management, giving regular career feedback, running technical interviews, and, most importantly, helping everyone on the team grow.

I also spent time as a lecturer at Wrocławska Akademia Biznesu, teaching an Introduction to Software Engineering course through lectures and labs. Sharing what I know is something I genuinely enjoy, which is part of why this blog exists.

Tech I work with

  • Frontend: React, Angular, Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript
  • Backend: Node.js, Nest.js
  • Cloud & more: AWS (Lambda, EventBridge, Bedrock), software systems engineering and design

I hold a Master of Engineering and a Bachelor of Engineering from the Technical University of Łódź, and I studied Computer Science at the Universidade de Aveiro in Portugal. I speak Polish natively, work comfortably in English, and know a little Portuguese.

If you're looking for a developer who will take the lead and stay committed to a project - I can help you. Feel free to reach out at contact@tommybernaciak.com or connect with me on LinkedIn.
